In mexico and japan, jana noticed that it seemed easy to convince people to work together for the good of the group. how would you characterize this trait?

I would characterize this trait as selflessness. Doing what is better for the group as a whole rather than the individual. Working together for the common good allows more to be accomplished at a faster pace than working alone.
